Hollywood Collectors' Celebrities Show – Feb 15/16

Fans, friends, and celebrity guests alike always look forward to the Ray
and Sharon Courts' Hollywood Collectors' Celebrities Shows, put on four
times a year in Burbank, California, not too far from "downtown Burbank"
as Johnny Carson of "The Tonight Show" used to refer to. In fact the
venue is right across the street from the Bob Hope Burbank Airport, a
nice Hollywood touch in the middle of the San Fernando Valley that is
the home to so many movie and television studios and production
companies.

For the Feb 15/16 dates, along with Bob and Laddie and good friend Jon
Provost, the following celebrities in front of and behind the camera
were scheduled to attend, meet and greet, have their photos taken and
sign their autographs:

Seth Adkins, Darryl Anderson, Ed Asner, Molly Bee, Karen Black, Ernest
Borgnine, Olivia Burnette, Edd "Kookie" Byrnes, Carol Channing, Noah
Dahl, Dolores Del Monte, Peter Falk, Diane Franklin, Bert I. Gordon,
Courtney Halverson, Ty Hardin, Ray Harryhausen, Richard Hatch, Richard
Herd, Michael Hoey, Rebecca Holden, Kathleen Hughes, Arline Hunter, Herb
Jefferson Jr., Doug Jones, Mickey Jones, Steve Kanaly, Linda Kelsey,
George Kennedy, Dagney Kerr, John Kerr, Margot Kidder, Bruce Kimmel,
Dana Kimmell, Bernie Kopell, Johnny Legend, Joan Leslie, Harry Lewis,
Tessa Ludwick, Deanna Lund, Carol Lynley, Don Marshall, Donna Martell,
Sue Martin, Don Matheson, Chuck McCann, Billy Mumy, Cynthia Myers, John
Newton, Jonnie Nicely, Brigitte Nielsen, Ken Norton, France Nuyen, Gary
Owens, Gregg Palmer, Butch Patrick, Mackenzie Phillips, Cindy Pickett,
John Saxon, William Morgan Sheppard, John Wesley Shipp, Robert Shore,
Cathy St. George, Frank Stallone, Savannah Stehlin, Stella Stevens,
Larry Storch, Dick Van Patten, Johnny Venokur, Robert Walden, Beverly
Washburn, Michael Welch, Allen Williams, Jonathan Winters, and Celeste
Yarnall.

Many of the celebrities were drawn to Laddie and came over to pet him
and have their photos taken with him. We soon found out who loved dogs
and who shared their lives with dogs. Seated perpendicular to us was Edd
Byrnes who used to have Akitas and now has a Maltese. Deanna Lund saw
that Laddie was present on Friday and brought her own Wheaten terrier on
Saturday. Frank Stallone thought it would be quite a magnet to walk down
the street with a Weatherwax collie. Margot Kidder, France Nuyen,
Beverly Washburn, Gary Owens among others came by to say hello. Former
Playboy Playmate Arline Hunter, sitting in the row of celebrities across
from us, kept coming over to pet everyone's favorite collie.

The greatest coincidence was having Celeste Yarnall so near to us.
Celeste stopped acting years ago to go into other business ventures.
Always devoted to her pets, she obtained her Ph. D. and went into
holistic/natural dog and cat care, developing a line of raw food and
supplements under the name of Celestial Pets. For those of you who have
read her books, you know the Weatherwax connection. For those of you who
don't, Celeste owned a collie bitch with quite an enviable pedigree
stretching back to a number of Parader champions among others. She
happened to be living in Malibu in the early to mid 1970s, not far from
Rudd Weatherwax and his third wife, Betty. Celeste brought her girl over
to the Weatherwaxes, who liked her so much that they agreed to breed her
to Lassie. From that union, two pups – a boy and a girl – were born, and
Rudd ended up taking both. The breeding was to be repeated but Celeste's
beloved bitch became ill and the next breeding was not to be. Along with
Celeste's other achievements, she is a breeder of Tonkinese cats and has
raised ten generations according to holistic/natural ways.

For Bob and Laddie, meeting old friends is a plus. But the real reason
for going is neatly and visually summed up in the accompanying
photograph. It's all about kids – or the kid in each of us – and dogs.
